Stirling-Rawdon Mayor Bob Mullin talked with Quinte News about the year that was for the municipality.
He says finding dollars is always difficult to achieve everything you hope to accomplish.
“Meeting our financial needs. We are getting minimal support from the province. Especially in Stirling’s case, one hundred percent of the infrastructure is our responsibility.”
Keeping employees is a huge victory as well, according to Mullin.
“We were able to retain our staff. We’ve done quite a bit of advancement of the asset management plan. We completed the main sewage pumping station upgrade. We’ve started on the main downtown project.”
“Municipal careers never really got the coverage that they should’ve, they’re good jobs, good benefits, people just don’t know about them. There hasn’t been a lot of attraction to the workforce and like everything else now, you can’t just sort of walk in and learn on the go, you gotta have some background.”
He says moving into the new year there are many infrastructure projects, including water and sewer mains, secondary road top coating, and downtown roadways.
