9:40 a.m. UPDATE: Reports of a 20-vehicle pileup on Highway 401 east at Colborne.
The blowing and snowing continues this Christmas Eve and this big winter storm has the Quinte region and many other areas at a standstill.
Driving is an absolute no no. Highway 401 is strewn with abandoned transports and vehicles and east of Belleville the highway is closed in multiple areas. Side roads are impassable and Prince Edward County has closed all roads until conditions improve.
Large and small power outages continue throughout the area but especially in Prince Edward County, around Brighton, and parts of Trenton and north of Trenton.
Power could be back on in Quinte west and Brighton by noon today but the close to 2,000 customers without power in The County could be waiting until late this afternoon (Saturday)
Fortunately, in urban Belleville south of the 401, there were very few problems with the power but driving is treacherous.
Do not drive today as the snow and blowing snow will continue into the night with conditions improving somewhat overnight.
