Prince Edward County OPP responded along with Prince Edward County Fire to a group stranded on ice in the Bay of Quinte.
A group of eight went ice fishing on the bay, north of Big Island, when the group became stranded on a large chunk of ice.
All eight were rescued and brought back to shore.
OPP are reminding residents that while the ice may look tempting for winter activities such as ice fishing, due to erratic and warm temperatures this winter the ice is not strong enough to safely support people and should not be trusted.
If people do venture out, OPP recommend wearing a survival suit, and carrying a rescue rope as well as a pick to grip the ice and pull yourself out of the water.
