There was a lot on the go in the Town of Deseronto in 2022.
Quinte News chatted with Mayor Dan Johnston to better understand some of the projects and tasks that came to the forefront.
Johnston says getting employees aligned with the vision and tasks is always important and he says they work with great people.
“Was onboarding our new staff. We did a lot of reorganization within the municipality and we hired a new town manager to come on in to help lead our team. Bringing that person on board, with an influx of development opportunities, that we’ve seen within out community, that posed to be the largest challenge that we’ve had so far.”
Johnston says putting the right people in the right positions is incredibly important for the success of a community.
He says they also fixed their zoning by-laws, which had not been addressed in nearly 30 years.
There was also work on the waterfront, known as the Arctic Gardens.
The Community Centre and programming at the arena, along with a return to pre-pandemic norms were also highlights of 2022.
