2022 brought many challenges and victories locally and across the country.
As we look back at the year that was, we chatted with the Member of Parliament of Northumberland-Peterborough South Phillip Lawrence.
He tells Quinte News 2022 did have a shift back to a more normal style of life.
“The COVID pandemic is over in our community as things are returning back to normal.”
Lawrence adds that as we transition out of the COVID pandemic, residents are now suffering with a much higher cost of living.
“Getting more and more expensive and life seems increasingly difficult. This is a Canadian phenomenon. This is a made in Canada, Liberal problem. They’ve printed $400 billion and whenever you print that amount of money, you’re going to run into inflation.”
He adds that economic growth appears to be stagnant, with a possible recession situation around the corner.
“They just don’t seem to be realizing it and they just keep spending and taxing more. As Winston Churchill said a country trying to tax its prosperity is like a man trying to jump into the bucket and pull the handle and lift himself up.”
