The last surviving World War 2 veteran of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, has died.
Austin Elmer Fuller served with the Hastings Prince Edward Regiment.
Fuller was born in Shannonville in 1921, enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1940 and was posted to the Hasty Ps.
He landed on Pachino Beach in July of 1943 and fought through Sicily, the Italian mainland and into Holland, finishing his service in that war when the Hasty Ps took the surrender of the German Garrison in Amersfoort, Holland.
He took his discharge from the permanent force in 1945 after serving overseas for more than five years, including constant fight from July 1943 until May 1945.
Fuller was 101.
