2022 is almost over.
Quinte News continues to reach across our community to find out about the year that was.
David Piccini is the Minister of the Environment, but also the MPP for Northumberland-Peterborough South.
Piccini says the major adjustments regarding the pandemic came to an end early this year.
He says the response to the pandemic was very strong.
“Among the best in the world if not second best to only Japan. We’ve made a number of critical investments into our wastewater surveillance infrastructure, which is now world-leading, which will help us not only in respect to COVID, but in respect to mental health and addictions, be it overdoses, future threats to Ontario. This is a good line of defence.”
On a provincial scale he says hiring more doctors and more nurses and creating hospital infrastructure has been job one.
He says infrastructure work was across the riding.
“From important bridge work in Brighton, to expanding Centre-Line Road in small communities like Ashphodel-Norwood. To larger like the Golden Plough Lodge Long Term Care Home (Cobourg), the brand new arena coming into Trent Hills, replacing the roof at the King Edward Park Arena (Brighton).”
He says infrastructure money has gone to all municipalities in Northumberland Peterborough South.
