Influenza activity continues to be high as COVID-19 activity continues to drop.
In its weekly update, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 39 new high-risk cases of COVID-19 in the last week.
The number of known active high-risk cases continues to go down with 49 active high-risk cases reported this week. That is down from 67 reported last week.
Hospitalizations did go up. Seven people are currently in hospital with COVID-19, up from four last week.
Two people are in the intensive care unit.
There are two outbreaks that remain active in high-risk facilities.
No new COVID-19 deaths were reported.
In its respiratory update, HPEPH reported 23 new confirmed cases of Influenza A.
There are two additional institutional outbreaks. There have been four in total this season.
A total of 156 cases of Influenza A have been reported this season.
There remains only one reported Influenza B case reported all season to this point.
