Stirling-Rawdon council has signed off on an agreement that will allow major improvements at two of the community’s landmark buildings.
Monday council committed to providing 20% of the cost of replacing windows and doors, improving heating systems, and upgrading accessibility in both the library and Stirling Festival Theatre. Both buildings were constructed in the early 1900s.
Eighty per cent of the cost of the upgrades will come from the federal government’s Green and Inclusive Community Buildings fund.
The grant to Stirling-Rawdon is now approved at $240,000 but Mayor Bob Mullin says the costs for the work have increased in the past two years since the original application was made and the amount coming from the federal government is expected to be higher than that.
