Quinte West Council has approved a new policy for operating outdoor rinks.
At Monday’s council meeting, council approved a new policy outlining how members of the public can set up and operate their own outdoor ice surfaces.
Groups of volunteers who wish to operate their own outdoor rink will have to follow the guidelines posted as part of the policy, and the location of the rink will have to be approved by the city before being set up.
The volunteer group operating the ice surface will be responsible for all maintenance of the ice surface while it is in operation.
They will also be responsible for supervising the use of the ice surface and provide all equipment and supplies needed to undertake these tasks.
