As in other municipalities, the vast majority of Quinte West residents who voted in October’s local election enjoyed voting online with 90% of survey respondents finding the experience “easy and convenient.” However, in a staff post-election report coming to Quinte West council tonight (Monday) it was noted that residents had some issues with the election process.
Several respondents believed more advertising needed to be done on voting methods and dates and more information should have been available about the candidates.
There was also a desire for more than one voting option. Council had approved telephone voting as an alternative to online but didn’t have enough time before the election to have it implemented.
Staff is expected to bring back a recommendation report for the next election early in the new year.
