The Manitoba Moose defeated the Belleville Senators 6-2 on Saturday.
Brennan Saulnier and Ridly Greig scored for the Sens.
The Moose opened with the first goal less than three minutes into play and kept up a strong offence through the first period, claiming three goals while keeping the Senators off the scoreboard. In the second period the Moose scored again early, prompting a change in the Senators’ goaltender, but that didn’t stop the Moose from scoring their fifth goal before the Senators could finally claim their first later in the period. While the Senators got one more in the third period, so did the Moose, ensuring their victory.
Head Coach Troy Mann said the team had a weak start.
“We’ve talked about our starts and there’s been multiple games where the first 10 minutes ends up costing us. It’s disappointing and frustrating, quite frankly,” said Mann
The Senators face the Moose again on Wednesday.
