“It’s an incredible donation so the $8,000 will support 50 families of four. But, to have this group of 100 men select us, it’s not just a business that’s supporting us, but it’s also 100 people that are giving donations and then choosing us because we know there were other applicants put forward.”
“This is a charity that sort of captured my interest leading up to the Christmas period and, you know the focus on Christmas and making a difference at Christmas, making everybody have a bit of a brighter Christmas, you know, with just a little bit extra seemed like a good fit.”
“Last year we had 1,311 registrations. We’ve exceeded that this year. And when you extrapolate that into the number of people in a family – we’re well over 3,500 people that we’re supporting.”
Chaeyne says it’s an easy group to be a part of.
“It isn’t a burden on them, on the members. They’re not looking for people to put 15 or 20 hours a month into supporting the group. We get together four times a year and, and the intent is just to be able to make a meaningful impact those four times. And it feels great to be able to give back and see the difference that we’re making.”
Since its inception eight years ago, the group has donated almost $300,000 to local charities.
