The Laval Rocket roasted the Belleville Senators 7 to 4 on Saturday.
Angus Crookshank, Rourke Chartier, and Scott Sabourin scored for the Senators.
The Senators got off to a rough start as the Rocket tallied up five goals in the first period to the Senators’ one. The Senators swapped goalies and came back in the second period to try for a comeback, but despite two second period goals and a third period goal, they weren’t able to catch up as the Rocket claimed two more points before closing out the game.
Senators Head Coach Troy Mann remarked on the difficulty they faced in that first period.
“We didn’t control momentum swings in that first period very well, and consequently, we fell behind. The resilience of the team, as we’ve talked about all year, is certainly one of our strengths, and there was no quit. We fought back to make it a game,” said Mann.
The Senators travel to face the Manitoba Moose on Saturday.
