OPP arrested a 19-year-old on several charges including flight from peace officer following a traffic stop early Monday in Quinte West.
On November 19, OPP attempted to stop a vehicle on Fourth Avenue in Trenton for a Highway Traffic Act violation however, the driver, who was known to police, failed to stop.
A warrant was sought for their arrest for numerous criminal and provincial offences.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Sidney Street near Dixon Drive for an equipment violation.
Police recognized the passenger as the wanted male.
He fled on foot but was arrested following a brief foot chase.
James Whyte of Quinte West faces the following charges:
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Flight from peace officer
Operation while prohibited
Fail to comply with probation order – two counts
Driving while under suspension
Red light – fail to stop; and
Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
He was held in custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Belleville on Monday.
