The Belleville Senators smashed the Syracuse Crunch 6-4 at CAA Arena on Friday.
Scoring for the Senators were Rourke Chartier, Cole Reinhardt, Scott Sabourin, and Jarid Lukosevicius with a hat trick.
The Crunch claimed their first goal at less than five minutes into the game, and halfway through first period, they would take another to lengthen their lead, however, the Senators came back with a goal of their own to make the score 2-1 before the end of the period. In the second period, Jarid Lukosevicius claimed two goals and brought the Senators into the lead at 3-2.
In the third, the Crunch quickly took a goal on a power play to even it up, however the Senators claimed another goal and retook the lead 30 seconds later, then Lukosevicius claimed his third goal of the night, pumping up the Senators’ advantage and claiming a hat trick for himself. The Crunch claimed one more goal to try and get back in, but a final Senators goal on an empty net sealed the game for them.
Head coach Troy Mann said his team performed well, especially on power plays.
“They tilted the ice, but I thought that power play which generated a number of chances and a lot of really good looks got us back in the hockey game. Certainly got our five on five game going and then it was a well-played hockey game. Lots of mistakes, a lot of good stuff and great to get the two points,” said Mann.
