A pair of local agencies that support seniors, are doing just that for the holiday season.
Community Care for South Hastings and the Victoria Order of Nurses are working together on Christmas for Seniors.
Program Coordinators Lorraine Pyle this is the fifth year.
“There are so many seniors that are alone, or experience hardships, they’ve lost a partner. They live below the poverty line, they’re in poor health themselves. This idea brought some Christmas joy into their life, to let them know that they weren’t alone.”
You can take a Christmas tag off trees located at Quinte First Credit Union locations, the Trenton FreshCo or the Bayview Mall in Belleville.
You purchase the item on the tag, return it, and it will be given to a local senior.
There are 576 tags available this year.
