The Laval Rocket defeated the Belleville Senators 7 to 5 during their Friday game at CAA Arena.
Matthew Boucher, Scott Sabourin, Jake Lucchini and Maxence Guenette scored for the Senators.
The Belleville Senators claimed an early point in the first period, but the Rocket came back to even the score before the end of the period. Disaster struck for the Senators in the second period however as the Rocket claimed three unanswered goals in just over eight minutes of play. The senators responded by pulling out their goaltender, Logan Flodell, and sending in Antoine Bibeau to take his place. The senators rallied to even the score at 5-5 before the period ended.
In the third period, the Rocket slipped in another goal, and then clinched a final shot while the Sens were playing empty net to secure the victory.
Senators head coach Troy Mann said that he thought the team got off to a great start.
“I loved our start. I thought we came up with some purpose and really controlled the tempo of the game, and got the lead, which was good. We talked earlier today about the start and certain things we wanted to accomplish early in the game. I thought we did that,” said Mann.
The Senators face the Rocket in a rematch Saturday night at 7:05 in the CAA Arena.
