The Festival of Lights kicks off this Friday.
The festival was initially started as a tribute to Billy Foster who died on Christmas Eve in 1958 from a car accident.
Foster’s parents, Don and Rita, created a Christmas display that would appeal to young people in tribute to their son.
The car accident also killed Billy’s friend, Art “Sonny” Culloden.
The Culloden family has donated to the refurbishment of a historic display dedicated to Sonny and Billy.
Festivities will take place at West Zwick’s Park.
There will be a free “Santa Express” shuttle bus from the Transit Terminal on Pinnacle Street to West Zwick’s Park starting at 4:40 p.m.
The last trip from the park will be at 8:30 p.m.
Food trucks, live entertainment, appearances from Santa and Mrs Claus, Sparky, and The Grinch with Cindy Lou Who are scheduled.
It wraps up with plans for fireworks.
Residents can also donate to the Festival of Lights.
Funds raised go towards refurbishing existing displays, replacing bulbs and/or purchasing new displays.
