The Warden of Hastings County says the provincial government “has written off” local communities hit by a tornado earlier this year.
Jo-Anne Albert told county council this week that the fallen trees and erosion near the lakes are dangerous for hunters and others in the woods.
Albert says they had the provincial government officials tour the area but have had no response about getting assistance.
She is concerned water will take out bridges and flood Highway 37.
Albert indicated the province had turned the issue over to Quinte Conservation.
“Quinte Conservation, as we know, their funding’s cut. They don’t have the money to go in there, or the trained people. We haven’t heard back from that one yet either.”
Council decided to write to the government showing that communities deserve a better response from the government, and some action.
