A 39-year-old man has been arrested after an assault at a restaurant north of Hwy 401.
Belleville police were called to the restaurant at 6:05 p.m. on November 7 on an assault call.
When police arrived, they were told by witnesses of a male who had fled the building who was then subsequently arrested.
Witnesses told police that the man had come into the restaurant, charged at the victim and hit the victim with a chair. The victim fell to the ground from the assault.
It’s then alleged that the suspect continued to strike at the victim while they were on the ground until some customers in the restaurant stopped the fight.
A 39-year-old Belleville man was charged with assault with a weapon causing bodily harm.
The man was held for a bail hearing on November 8.
The victim was treated in hospital for injuries to the face and was later released.
