Following the example of the Kingston NDP, the Bay of Quinte NDP are distancing themselves from social media platform Twitter.
The decision to focus on other social media outlets comes as Twitter deals with multiple controversies in the wake of the takeover by billionaire Elon Musk.
In the weeks since he took control of the company, Twitter has seen an increase in hate speech along with a lack of moderation, which was cited as one of the factors in the Kingston NDP’s decision.
The social media network is also dealing with massive layoffs, and a wave of fake accounts having purchased blue verification marks spoofing major brands with misinformation.
The Bay of Quinte NDP says they will still be available on Facebook and Instagram.
