Work to improve broadband connection for thousands of underserved homes and businesses in Prince Edward County is beginning this year.
At its meeting Tuesday, Prince Edward County Council is to hear a deputation from Rogers representatives on the status of the company’s Broadband Expansion in the County.
Rogers is spending $140 million to connect more than 20,000 homes and businesses to reliable high-speed connectivity in the County, Belleville and Quinte West.
It has been determined there are 7,000 underserved premises in Prince Edward County.
Design and engineering work has already started with the entire project expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
A separate $300 million initiative involving Rogers and the Eastern Ontario Regional Network will improve cell service throughout Eastern Ontario.
