On November 2, 2022 at 4:30 p.m., Belleville police attended the Belleville Public Library regarding a male who had a knife. Officers arrived on the scene and were confronted by the male. The male was safely disarmed and taken into custody. As a result, 61-year-old Ernest Haughton, of no fixed address, was charged with having a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He was held until he was sober and released with a court date on December 8, 2022.
