Eight non-profit housing properties in the Quinte area will soon get urgent repairs and upgrades through provincial funding.
On Thursday, Hastings County approved a total amount of $314,618 for the projects.
The funding is provided by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
The projects include $159,692 for Quinte West Non-Profit and $24,154 for Thurlow Housing Corporation.
In May 2019, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) introduced the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative (OPHI) as part of the Community Housing Renewal Strategy.
The focus of OPHI investments is to help stabilize and enhance the existing community housing system as well as assist with future growth and expansion of affordable housing options within communities.
In February 2022, the county committee approved the release of an Expression of Interest for existing non-profit housing providers for capital funding to support urgent repairs and upgrades to properties and several funding requests were received.
The committee recommended to Hastings County Council that the following Non-Profit Housing Providers receive capital funding under OPHI to support urgent repairs and upgrades to the following properties:
- Emmanuel Residence $ 44,974
- Ontario East Triangle Court $ 2,122
- Thurlow Housing Corp. $ 24,154
- Trent Moira Co-op $ 19,745
- Quinte West Non-Profit $159,692
- North Hastings Non-Profit $ 13,760
- Marmora District Housing $ 25,400
- Trenton Memorial Lodge $ 24,771
Total Funding $314,618
County Council approved all of them as recommended.
