The City of Belleville is hosting an annual forum aimed at bringing more gender equity into what is a traditionally male-dominated profession, firefighting.
Fire Service Women Ontario is holding its symposium, starting Wednesday and running through Saturday.
The symposium will feature a guest speaker from the New York City Fire Department.
Batallion Commander Michele Fitzsimmons responded to the World Trade Centre after the 9/11 terror attacks.
Fitzsimmons will join other experts providing training, both classroom and hands-on, to over 150 women firefighters from across the country.
