Quinte West OPP have arrested and charged a man with stunt driving and impaired driving after a traffic stop on Highway 401 in Trenton.
Police say they conducted a traffic stop around 12:30 a.m. after observing a vehicle go 178km/h on the highway.
According to OPP, after the driver was pulled over, it’s alleged the driver showed signs of alcohol consumption.
After a roadside screening test, the accused was transported to the Quinte West OPP detachment for further testing where it was determined that he was over the legal limit.
Twenty-three-year-old Corbin Bernhardt of Central Hastings was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus); and
- Stunt driving
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on November 17.
The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.
