Quinte West’s volunteer firefighters have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new three-year contract that sees significant pay increases for them.
The Christian Labour Association of Canada says the volunteers will now train and respond to calls at the same rate of pay. The move means the more than 140 firefighters will receive almost double the pay for training hours.
The rate for probationary firefighters was also increased by 47%.
