The Hastings County social services department is facing an increase in housing property issues.
A report to the meeting of the Community and Human Services Committee on Wednesday indicates Housing Resource Workers have started to receive an increase in program referrals from their property supervisors following the Annual Unit Inspections.
The team is currently providing service to 73 households with 12 households on a waiting list.
The report also noted that October 18 is the 22nd annual Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.
This day is to reflect on the significant role child care workers play in supporting positive life outcomes for children and extend the deep appreciation for their skills and dedication.
Hastings County Children Services will be celebrating Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day on Friday, October 21, at a Professional Learning Day being held then.
