Children’s Safety Village is resuming safety education programming for the first time in more than two years.
The programming will start on October 7.
Programming was cancelled for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There is no question the pandemic has had a significant impact on a lot of businesses and a lot of not-for-profit groups like the Children’s Safety Village,” said Children’s Safety Village board chair Matt Howell in a press release.
“While we receive no government funding, we are blessed to have many dedicated partners, sponsors and donors who have continued to support the village for that past two years and we have had several new supporters step forward in the last few months to help us get to the point we are at today, which is again resuming programming at the Village.”
As restrictions started to ease, the Children’s Safety Village says it worked hard through the summer to teach area kids and youth a range of safety issues.
Initial programming will focus on street and pedestrian safety, fire safety, rail safety and animal safety.
Programming on tricky people and internet safety is set to start later in the fall.
Bike safety is said to likely begin in the spring.
