A well-known and respected educator, historian and former Belleville city councillor has passed away.
Gerry Boyce died peacefully overnight Tuesday surrounded by his family.
His death was announced by his son Egerton Boyce on Facebook.
Gerry Boyce was a charter member of the Hastings County Historical Society and was the author of many articles and a 2009 book entitled Belleville: A Popular History.
Boyce served on Belleville council from 1991 until 1997.
