A fire is now under control and an overhaul operation is underway after a blaze at a Palmer Road apartment building.
Belleville Fire and Emergency Crews were called to 191 Palmer Road, in front of Centennial Secondary School, just before 11 a.m.
“While on route, (firefighters) received a an on-site report from a street over of smoke and fire coming from one of the upper floors .” Deputy Fire Chief Don Carter tells Quinte News.
“Crews got on scene. They assessed that the fire was mainly isolated to the outside of the building and they proceeded to start to remove the cladding from it and isolated the incident from there.”
Hastings Quinte Paramedics were also on scene but no injuries were reported.
Burn marks from the blaze could be seen from the middle of the building all the way to the top floor.
Fire crews could be seen pulling on the damaged cladding.
At least five firetrucks were on scene. Four at the front of the building. One at the back.
