Belleville police responded to 210 calls for service over a 72-hour period from 5 a.m. on September 16, 2022 to 5 a.m. on September 19, 2022.
Impaired Driving
On September 16, 2022 at 8:30 p.m., an off-duty Belleville police officer observed what they believed to be an impaired driver operating a vehicle erratically on Ashley Street. The off-duty officer managed to stop the vehicle on Highway 62. Uniformed officers attended, and while on the scene, the driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. As a result, 33-year-old Samuel George of Pickering was charged with impaired operation and having over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. He was later released on an undertaking with a court date of October 20, 2022.
On September 16, 2022 at 9 p.m., Belleville police responded to a two-vehicle collision at Bridge Street West and Coleman Street. There were no injuries reported, but neither vehicle was driveable. While conducting the investigation, the at-fault driver was showing signs of impairment. The driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. As a result, 40-year-old Murray Young of Belleville was charged with having 80mg plus of alcohol in his blood. Young was later released on an undertaking with a court date of October 20, 2022.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On September 18, 2022 at 11:35 p.m., Belleville police attended an address on Harder Drive regarding a motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that a black Audi had gone through a stop sign at Harder Drive and Wright Avenue and struck the front entrance of a church causing substantial damage. The driver and passenger fled the scene. Assault with a Weapon
On September 18, 2022, at 6:20 p.m., Belleville police attended a business on Front Street regarding a fight. Upon arrival, police broke up the disturbance. Investigation revealed that a female had stabbed an ex-boyfriend who worked in the establishment. The male sustained minor injuries. As a result, a 29-year-old Belleville resident was charged with assault with a weapon and assault. She was held for a bail hearing on September 19, 2022.
Arrest on Warrant
On September 19, 2022 at 4:35 a.m., Belleville police received a call about a disturbance on Moira Street East. Police located a male and female arguing. A records check indicated that the male, Gordon Green, a 36-year-old Belleville, resident had a warrant for breaching his probation. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing on September 19, 2022.
