It was just like the old days at Belleville’s West Zwick’s Park Sunday morning. The trail around the park was filled with walkers and joggers of all ages taking part in the annual Terry Fox Run.
At the end of the day over $36,000 was raised, $6,000 more than the $30,000 goal, and run organizer Vicki Samaras says worry over COVID-19 didn’t seem to have any effect on the turnout.
“The thing the Foundation did was they got a major supplier to donate hand sanitizer so they made sure, and the t-shirts were individually wrapped so they were doing things like that this year to make sure to make people feel like “you know what I’m a little safer.”
The Belleville Terry Fox Run has now raised $986,000 for cancer research since the event began in 1981.
This Friday, runs will be held at local high schools. Go to TerryFox.org to make a donation.
