The rates for Long Term Care Homes are rising, but the local homes remain popular.
Hastings County has two such homes, Hastings Manor in Belleville and Hastings Centennial Manor in
Bancroft.
Long-term Care Homes have received news from the Ontario government indicating resident accommodation rates would be changing effective October 1.
Inflationary rate increases of 2.5 per cent will be applied to basic and preferred accommodation rates.
Hastings County Director of Long Term Care Debbie Rollins says, “The benefit of Long Term Care is you can apply to any home in Ontario. You’re not restricted to the local area.”
“So if for some families if they live away from their parents bring closer to them has a huge advantage. Um, we do have a lot of local people calling saying I’d like to get into the home so we know that we are looked at as one of the homes that are, people are wanting to come to.”
Rollins added they have no control over where the residents come from.
