A plan by the City of Quinte West to allow an affordable apartment building in an older Trenton neighbourhood is meeting with some opposition.
At a public meeting of the Quinte West Planning Advisory Committee Thursday staff presented a plan to build a 38-unit building on South Street, the site of the former College Street School.
The building and property, if approved, would be owned and operated by the Hastings County Housing Division.
Some residents told the committee the building wouldn’t fit into the neighbourhood, which consists mainly of single family homes, and there were parking and traffic concerns.
No decision on the city’s application for rezoning was made but a staff recommendation will come to a future meeting.
