One person has been arrested after OPP seized approximately $1.7 million worth of illicit cannabis in Madoc.
Central Hastings OPP, the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, Community Street Crime Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant during the noon hour Thursday at a location on St. Lawrence Street East.
Police seized over 1,700 cannabis marijuana plants and approximately 1.4 kilograms of dried cannabis bud.
Twenty-eight-year-old Chien Lin of Markham was arrested on charges of unlawfull possess cannabis for the purpose of distributing, unlawfull possess cannabis for the purpose of selling and unlawfull cultivate, propagate or harvest a cannabis plant that is from seed or plant material that is illicit cannabis.
The accused is to appear in court October 17.
