The Chief of Police of the Belleville Police Service is glad frontline officers are now wearing body cameras on duty.
Chief Mike Callaghan says six complaints about the conduct of officers were laid between April and June but five of them were declared invalid by an outside agency because of bodycam evidence.
“The data or the video recordings are absolutely impartial and we are able to show either the OIPRD (Office of the Independent Police Review Director) and/or the SIU
exactly what transpired so I know for a fact they are diminishing the time frame in which those complaints are being investigated.”
The sixth complaint lodged against officers remains under investigation.
