Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee is recommending council approve rezoning to allow a four-storey, 38-unit apartment building on Burnham Street at Dundas Street East.
The building would feature 12 affordable apartments and eight barrier-free units.
The property now holds a house, a semi-detached dwelling and a converted house.

At a previous public meeting, people living in the neighbourhood expressed concern that the building was too large for the area and believed
not enough parking was provided.
After a question about parking from Councillor Tyler Allsopp, staff said that because of the affordable units being provided and the availability
of grocery stores and other retail services nearby, along with public transit, staff could support a reduction in the number of parking spaces to 33 although the building would contain 38 apartments.
The developer, a numbered company, is receiving $120,000 in affordable housing funding from City of Belleville programs to help defray the cost of the building.
Councillor Bill Sandison said the proposal was a great infill project and would provide badly needed rental housing in the city.
The recommendation to council to approve the rezoning application was passed unanimously.
