Belleville police responded to 193 calls for service over a 96-hour period from 5 a.m. on September 2, 2022 to 5 a.m. on September 6, 2022.
Breach of Release Order
On September 3, 2022 at 10:30 p.m., Belleville police officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the Tim Hortons parking lot at College and Cannifton Streets. The female driver was identified as 32-year-old Melissa Reid of Bancroft. A check of Reid revealed that she was currently on a release order with one of her conditions, including a curfew to be in her residence from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. As a result, she was arrested and charged with breaching her release order.
She was later released with a court date of October 20, 2022.
Animal Cruelty
On September 5, 2022 at about 12:45 a.m., Belleville police responded to an apartment complex on Haig Road. A roommate reported to police that a male was injuring his dog. Police discovered that a hound/shepherd cross puppy had been abused. The dog was seized and turned over to the Humane Society. As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Austin Bailey-Young of Belleville was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. Bailey-Young was later released from custody with a November 3, 2022 court date.
Intoxicated in a Public Place
On September 5, 2022 at 10:05 p.m., Belleville police responded to the area of Stanley Street and Pine Street regarding an intoxicated male. Police attended the area and located a 27-year-old Belleville male on the sidewalk, unfit to care for himself. Subsequently, he was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and transported to the Belleville Police Service, where he was held until sober.
