The boundaries of two electoral ridings in our region could be changing.
The Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Ontario has proposed expanding Hastings-Lennox and Addington’s western boundary to include areas around Havelock and Apsley.
The Commission is also proposing a name change for the riding. If approved it would be known as Hastings-Lennox and Addington-Tyendinaga riding.
The change would add some population to the riding bringing it to over 111,000 and closer to the goal of around 116,000 for all Ontario ridings.

Meanwhile, Northumberland-Peterborough South riding would become slightly smaller with the removal of Alderville First Nation.
No changes are proposed for Bay of Quinte riding.
A virtual public hearing for the proposed changes will be held September 26.
