Building is booming in the City of Belleville.
By the midpoint of this year the city has already issued building permits with a construction value of over $100 million.
Manager of Economic Development and Strategic Initiatives Karen Poste says most years Belleville hasn’t reached that much construction value in the entire 12 months.
Poste says the city expects that by the end of the year, permits will have been issued for over $200 million worth of construction.
“We know that there are a number of new housing developments that will start being constructed this year and we expect those will add to the numbers we already have. There are a couple of new institutional permits yet to be issued this year and a couple of industrial and commercial permits.”
Poste says the building department and the builders themselves have never been busier.
