Prince Edward County Council has approved changes to the licence program for short-term accommodations.
The proposed changes were discussed at the Committee of the Whole meeting on August 8.
The proposed changes include increasing fines for operating short-term accommodations without a licence to $10,000, $15,000 for a second offence and $20,000 for a third.
Other changes include refusing or revoking licences for non-compliance, higher penalties for not posting a licence number, and reducing density requirements in hamlets.
There are currently 884 short-term rentals licensed to operate in Prince Edward County.
