A two-vehicle collision in Quinte West has led to OPP laying impairment charges.
Quinte West OPP responded to the collision on the Johnstown Road Bridge at around 8:45 p.m last Friday.
A police investigation found that an eastbound pickup truck and a westbound SUV collided after the pickup truck driver allegedly crossed into the westbound lane.
When officers spoke with the driver of the pickup truck, it’s alleged that the driver showed signs of impairment.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to detachment for testing.
It is then further alleged that the accused refused to participate in mandatory breath testing.
Sixty-year-old Sylvain Roy from Trenton was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 25, 2022.
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
