Reconstruction of streets in downtown Stirling gets underway the middle of next month.
The project entails the reconstruction of four streets in the downtown area, a section of Henry Street, west Front Street, North Street and Mill Street.
The project will be phased in over two years.
Project Manager Matt Morkem tells Quinte News the idea is to maintain access for businesses during the project.
“For as long as we possibly can. Even when they’re constructing, we’re going to have fenced off areas to allow businesses to remain open as long as possible.”
The project includes a number of sections.
“Reconstructing and replacing the sanitary sewer which has reached the end of its lifespan as well as replacing the watermain. Both increasing the size of both of those for development as well as end of life use. They’ve kind of reached their useful life age.”
Morkem expects the project to begin mid August and continue as long as weather allows.
It will resume again in April or May of next year, with the completion date in September of 2023.
The public is invited to attend an information centre on the project at the Stirling-Rawdon municipal office at 4 p.m. Wednesday July 27.
