UPDATE: LATEST RELEASE FROM THE MUNICIPALITY OF TWEED – 4:30, JULY 25, 2022.
The Emergency Control group for the municipality of Tweed has met again and has the following update.
The reception centre at the library will be open again tomorrow from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm. We are asking
affected residents to register at the reception centre so municipal staff have a better picture of the affected area.
All roads in the municipality have been cleared for emergency and local access only, with the exception of the
northern part of Potter Settlement Road and Ekblad Road. Public works crews hope to have these remaining
roads cleared for emergency and local access only by the end of the day. We are asking everyone to please
avoid the affected areas while crews are working to restore services
At this time, the only information we have regarding the restoration of power to the area is the information
available on the Hydro One Storm Centre app. We are in the process of trying to obtain a more accurate
estimate that we can share.
If you have any questions, please contact the municipal office at 613–478–2535

Damage from Sunday night’s storm has prompted the Municipality of Tweed to declare a state of emergency.
Mayor Jo-Anne Albert says the village is fine but areas to the north, particularly Actinolite, were hard hit.
Meetings with the emergency control group will continue throughout the day.
A reception centre for residents affected by the storm is open at the Tweed Public Library on Metcalf Street until 8 p.m. Monday.
Albert says they would have opened the centre in Actinolite but it remains without power.
Residents are asked to register at the reception area so municipal staff have a better picture of the affected area.
It will give residents a place to charge devices, get water and even food if need be.
The municipality is asking people to avoid side roads in the area, if possible, as Public Works and Hydro One crews work to clear the area of debris.
Meanwhile, Central Hastings OPP is also asking the public to avoid Highway 7 between Tweed (Hwy 37) and Kaladar (Cty Rd 41) as emergency crews continue to respond to multiple events in relation to the storm.
Declaration of State of Emergency from the Municipality of Tweed
The Municipality of Tweed has been significantly affected by the storm that passed through our area
on Sunday night. As a result, the municipality has declared a state of emergency with the province
and their emergency control group will be meeting throughout the day.
We will be opening a reception centre at the Tweed public library at 230 Metcalf Street in Tweed for
affected residents, which will be open until 8 pm this evening. We are asking affected residents to
register at the reception centre so municipal staff have a better picture of the affected area.
Public Works and Hydro One crews are working to clear the many side roads along the Hwy 7
corridor within the municipality of Tweed and request that you avoid the area. They are also
requesting that you drive with caution due to downed hydro lines and trees. There are extensive
hydro outages in areas that have not sustained damage and Hydro One is working to restore power.
You can see estimated times for restoration on their Hydro One app or on their Storm Centre online
at hydroone.com.
