A Brighton city councillor has announced his intent to run for mayor in the upcoming elections.
Doug LeBlanc announced on Friday that he was entering the race against incumbent Mayor Brian Ostrander.
The pair are currently the only two candidates running for the position.
Leblanc was elected to Brighton council in 2018 and is a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
“With the rising cost of living and the need for shovel-ready infrastructure projects in Brighton, it’s imperative to have a leader with the experience to provide financial stability and improve the services residents need,” Leblanc said in a press release.
Potential candidates have until August 19 to register with voting taking place in October.
