Heavy rain couldn’t stop the city from breaking ground on the Albion Street and Albion Way reconstruction project Thursday.
The ground-breaking ceremony in Belleville officially started the project to rebuild and replace the road, storm drains, sewer, and a 122-year-old watermain.
The new road layout will include bike lanes and a wider sidewalk.
The project is expected to be completed by June 2023, though contractors will be taking a break in November until the following spring.
