The Memorial Cup goes to the St. John Sea Dogs and a Belleville Senator played a major role.
St. John scored two goes in the first six minutes and never looked back, on route to a 6-3 win over the OHL Champion Hamilton Bulldogs.
Philippe Daoust, who started the season with the B-Sens, had six points in the tournament, including an assist on the game’s opening marker.
His QMJHL rights were acquired by the Sea Dogs in a trade earlier in the season from Moncton in a blockbuster trade.
Since 1999, the host team has won the tournament an impressive six times, and that includes a two-year layoff in 2020 and 21.
The Hamilton Bulldogs are the former Belleville Bulls.
