The recent wind and rain storms that blew trees and fences down, and knocked the power out to thousands of people in the Quinte region had a serious affect on a local hospital.
Tuesday, Quinte Health Care’s Board of Directors learned that the storms caused a power outage at Belleville General Hospital that lasted two hours.
Critical medical equipment continued operating through a back-up generator but there was still some damage to the hospital’s MRI machine and other equipment
.
The MRI was out of service for four days and patients who were in dire need of a scan were sent to Kingston.
Power outage damage continues to be assessed and QHC is working with its insurance company on a claim.
